Background:

Klaus was invited to play at a wedding in Northumberland. Travel from London and accommodation for one night were covered. An order of service with lots of beauuuuutiful music was planned: The "extraordinary rite" (Latin, RC), Gregorian Sanctus, Mozart's "Ave verum", the Lourdes hymn, unaccompanied plain chant, music by Louis Couperin, Lully, Sweelinck, Handel before the service.

But some of the pieces were not in Klaus's repertoire, and he would not have time to practise them during his busy wedding summer schedule.

He therefore suggested that the couple continued searching for an organist who could play ALL the desired pieces.

Meanwhile, to make sure the couple could not possibly find themselves without an organist on their wedding day, Klaus promised to be on stand-by during the search and, in an emergency, do his best (or his worst) with the desired pieces and not to accept another appointment for this date without consulting the Northumberland couple first.

On 23 July 2017, Klaus received an email:

Dear Klaus,

The conductor of the choir has agreed to play the organ, so I think we are fine now.

Thank you for staying on stand-by for us though!

It also turns out that the organ in the church is quite basic, so may not be up to some of the pieces we'd had in mind.

Thank you again and I will be sure to recommend you to any friends in need of an organist in the future.

Best wishes,

Lloyd

Klaus replied:

Dear Lloyd,

I am very happy that two of your problems (organist and organ) have been solved so quickly and so elegantly. I wish you a wonderful wedding day and a happy life together, filled with the great music of which you are so fond.

Yours sincerely,

Klaus
