Background: On 8 December 2016, Klaus played at two days' notice for the funeral of Mrs Clara Ernestina Hagan, 1930-2016 [Ghana, London] at St Margaret's Church, Edgware. In 2018, her son, Edward Hagan, asked Klaus to play again for a memorial service at Hinde Street Methodist Church in central London, on 20 November 2018. Some days before the service it turned out that the renowned pipe organ of the church had been dismantled and taken to the organ builders' workshop for refurbishing. A two-manual digital organ was in regular use during the interim but when Klaus arrived early to test it, it turned out to be in a sorry condition. None of the stops on the Swell were working when switched on (until, all of a sudden later in the service, they all came on on their own accord) and the Great was also erratic with sometimes the entire central octave turning silent. Klaus worked round these obstacles as best he could.

On 28 November 2018, Klaus received an e-mail from Edward Hagan:

/../ In terms of your playing the organ on the day and your whole general approach to the task in hand, I can only recommend your services very highly. Though faced with several obstacles, you managed to make your musical contribution in a sensitive and professional manner. Once more, may I thank you wholeheartedly for your contribution and helping to make the service to our dear mother a warm and memorable occasion.
